Overview

ReliefGeek, including Tax Relief Help (“we,” “our,” “us”), operates reliefgeek.com and the legacy taxreliefhelp.com website. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who processes it on our behalf, and the choices you have.

We do not sell personal information. Inquiries you submit are stored in our own database and are not automatically sent to lead buyers, lead aggregators, data brokers, or tax-relief companies.

Information We Collect

Information You Do Not Need to Provide

All educational content, guides, glossary entries, and reference materials on this site are freely accessible without creating an account or submitting personal information.

Tax Help Requests

If you submit a tax help request, we collect the information you enter, which may include your name, email address, phone number, state, whether you are an individual or business, an approximate amount owed, how urgent your situation is, and any description you choose to provide. We also record the page you submitted from, how you arrived at the site (such as a referring page or campaign link), the date and time, your IP address, and the exact consent wording and privacy policy version shown to you, along with the contact choices you selected.

Please do not include Social Security numbers, IRS account logins, or copies of tax records in the form. We do not request them.

Calculator Data

Our financial and collection-timeline worksheets and expense lookup run in your browser. Their input values stay in temporary page memory: the tools do not send those values to our servers, save them in browser storage, or include them in referral links. Reloading the page clears them. This does not apply to information you separately submit through an inquiry form or chat. Ordinary hosting and security requests may still record IP addresses and page URLs.

Chat Assistant

If you use the on-site chat assistant, the messages in your conversation are sent to an AI model provider through Vercel's AI Gateway so a response can be generated. We do not store chat conversations in our database. Do not enter sensitive personal or financial details into the chat.

Usage Data

Optional usage analytics, Vercel Analytics, Google advertising tags and conversion reporting are disabled for this release pending privacy acceptance. Hosting and security providers still process ordinary request information. Inquiry forms retain the attribution and consent details described above; disabling measurement does not erase historical records.

Who Processes Your Information

We use service providers that run this website on our behalf. They process information only to provide their services to us:

• Vercel: Website hosting, analytics, and the AI Gateway used by the chat assistant
• Neon: The database where tax help requests and consent records are stored
• Upstash: Temporary data used for rate limiting, security, and aggregate site measurement
• AI model provider (via Vercel AI Gateway): Generates chat assistant responses
• Optional measurement: Google advertising tags and Vercel Analytics are currently disabled

Referrals and Sharing

We do not currently send tax help requests to independent tax-relief companies, lead buyers, or other businesses. If we offer referrals in the future, we will describe the recipient and the purpose at the point of collection and will share your information only with the permission you give at that time. A change to this policy alone will not authorize sharing information you submitted earlier.

We may disclose information when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the site.

What We Do Not Do

• We do not sell personal information
• We do not automatically forward inquiries to lead buyers or tax-relief companies
• We do not require personal information to access educational content
• We do not store figures entered into our calculators
• We do not contact you by phone call or text message unless you selected that option

Cookies and Browser Storage

We use essential authentication cookies and session storage for inquiry attribution. Optional measurement is currently disabled. Worksheet values are not saved in cookies or browser storage. You may clear site data through your browser settings; doing so can sign you out and clear inquiry attribution but does not prevent reading public content.

Data Retention

We keep tax help requests for up to 24 months after your last interaction with us, unless a longer period is required by law. Records of the consent you gave may be kept for as long as needed to demonstrate how your information was handled.

Your Choices

You may ask us to access, correct, or delete the information you submitted, or to stop contacting you, by emailing the address below. You can withdraw consent to calls or text messages at any time.

AI and Machine-Readable Access

We publish llms.txt and llms-full.txt files at taxreliefhelp.com/llms.txt to provide AI systems with a structured summary of our public content. These files contain no user data, analytics, or personal information.

Data Security

This site is served over HTTPS. Tax help requests are stored in an access-restricted database, and administrative access requires authentication. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect the information you provide.

Children's Privacy

This site is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date.
